Wesenberg acquired from the Ducks. Had size and skill just couldn't put it together.
Love to see the Ivan make a push to take over the starters role.
Bill do you see them signing Jones or a vet or they going to let this play out? Also think this signals the end for Felix. |

I wonder if he will have any early issues adjusting to the different angles and playing style that comes from the smaller rinks and playing style.

Whether it's a smokescreen or not, I don't know. But Fletcher said he thinks Fedotov will compete immediately for the No. 2 job. If so, they won't bring Jones back.
Unless Sandström wants to go back to Europe-- he nearly did a year ago, if you recall -- I could see the Flyers bringing him back as Phantoms starter and No. 3 on NHL depth chart with a chance to beat out Fedotov if the Russian struggles with the adjustment. Ersson lost most of last season to injury.

I hope they follow through and let Ivan and others battle it out. If need be can get a vet goalie later. Being a 1 year deal also need to give hi every opportunity so he doesn't sour on the organization.
Will he be a UFA or RFA after the 1 year deal?
With Felix I do not think he will want to come back. Not sure he sees a path, with Erson also in house. Just a numbers game. We shall see.

I would hope Sandstrom also returns and the Flyers avoid the cheap UFA goalie signing. See what the young guys can do. Maybe a gem is found in a season with very minimal expectations coming up. I'm sure Jones will find a backup job, just hope it is not here |

Sandstrom can compete for a backup role here if we can resign him. I can’t imagine any other team eyeing him up for a larger role than that |

Another small blunder by the GM not moving Jones for a pick when he had the opportunity. |

What guarantees were there that another team even had interest in Jones?
Or is it just another "we should of traded this guy" without realizing there is another party involved that has to want it too?

I thought it was reported that Fletch wanted a backup goalie back in a trade for Jones but no one was interested making such a trade. But hey, haters gotta hate.

As for the draft lottery tomorrow....
I have three tiers.
1) Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, Nemec
2) Savoie, Kemell, Jiricek
3) Everyone else, although I really do like Lekkerimäki
Tier 1...Really excited about for a potential impact player.
Tier 2...Not as excited, but still a potential impact player.
Tier 3...More of what they have.
Depending on how the balls drop this should be pretty easy, but for some reason I just don't feel confident. |

The more I read about Wright, the more I am reminded of Nolan Patrick.
https://theathletic.com/3...ne-wright-2022-nhl-draft/
“You’re keeping a guy at first overall based mostly on what he’s done in past seasons and not in his draft season,” said one NHL executive. “I think that’s dangerous.” This is a reasonable thought, and it’s one I’ve considered more than once. Most NHL scouts I’ve discussed Wright with admit they’re not jumping out of their seats for him at the No. 1 pick, but they also admit he would be their pick simply due to the lack of an obvious alternate. There were several scouts in the first half of the season arguing to me that Logan Cooley was a plausible alternative, but less so lately after Cooley didn’t light it up this season. Lately there have been scouts arguing Slafkovsky as the main challenger to Wright, with a minority suggesting they would indeed take the Slovakian winger if they had the first pick.
It might be a blessing in disguise if the Flyers dont get the #1 pick and are almost "forced" to pick Wright. (which granted, may end up being the "right" pick.)
Part of me wants them to luck in to getting Slafkovsky. |

It was widely reported he turned down a trade with the oilers for a 5th rd pick back in February.

Not a fan of Chucky, i think he needs to go. I
But I believe Bill reported that Chuck wanted a goalie back.
At the time of the TDL I think the Flyers as an organization had like 2 or 3 healthy goalies and 1 of them was Jones. |

Weren't half the goalies in the system injured in February? Im thinking maybe there wasn't an NHL option healthy enough besides Hart at that point in the season. He almost had to keep him.

In Feb I don't think not 100% sure. He wanted a higher pick and wanted to wait was widely reported.
Bottom line is he should have bene moved. Can easily pick up an AHL vet if need be. They even had Jon Gillies in the system at 1 point. The Anton guy from Dallas was also on waivers at one point

Hoping Frost can have a great off-season and step up next season. The one part of the article, when Frost knew he was staying, probably some learning there for the coaching and GM, no YOYO

Kind of reminds me of Ghost in that it seemed like every time Ghost made a mistake or took a risk that didn't pan out, AV was going to bench or scratch him. And his game ended up suffering as a result. His confidence to be "Ghost" was shot all to hell by a coach who didn't know how to use him.
Ok, Im done beating this dead horse, back to our regular beating the Patrick dead horse.

This conference continue to form a line, a young line of Noah Cates, Frost, and Owen Tippett. This line wreaked havoc on opponents

Yeah, that may be overstating the case just a bit. Though the underlying fancy numbers back it up, as has been said, the bottom line is production. Though I will state that at least not giving up goals is a good start. Hopefully the production starts to match the stats next season.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, my #1 choice is Slafkovsky then Cooley.
